The frame or anchor impeller is generally designed for low-speed applications. It is suitable for mixing, heat transfer, or reaction processes involving medium- to high-viscosity liquids, and can also be used for flocculation and settling of low-viscosity liquids. It typically operates in the laminar flow regime, producing a horizontal circumferential flow. When equipped with pitched or angle-section blades, it can increase local turbulence near the impeller blades. Vertical blades and crossbars can be added as needed to enlarge the mixing range.
